Pierre Grisot

....... was born in Paris in 1912.

As his parentswished him to have a career as an engineer, he began to study the sciences. As soon as he obtained his diploma, he took a post as an engineer in the town of Besancon (France), where his parents were living. However, Pierre Grisot had an artist’s soul, and for many years he had wished to express his feelings with the aid of colors and brushed.

This is why he did not hesitate to give up his work as an endineer, and he came to Paris where he studied painting at the school of Decorative Art (Ecole des Arts Decoratifs) for one year.

For the four following years, he was a student at the Fine Art School in Paris (Ecole des Beaux Arts) and he obtained his diploma as a teacher of drawing. After this, he taught drawing and painting for some time, but he gave up this work as well, in order to be quite free to paint.

Grisot gave the first exhibition of his works in Paris in 1942. in 1951, he received a prize for engraving and in 1952, the French Government awarded him a scholarship for several months stay in Tunisia.

At this time the museum of Besancon acquired two of his works.

Pierre Grisot took part in many exhibitions of paintings in Paris; in particular in the salons des Independants and with the group of “The Paris School”, where he exhibited together with such artists as Vlaminck, Raoul Dufy and Villon.

He also exhibited many times aboard with the School of paris, in particular in Belgium, Sweden, Germany and the United States.
